Matthew leaves behind his father, Jerry Tamburello; mother, Gina Tamburello and her partner Chris Vega. He will be dearly missed by his sister and brother, Madelyn and Jerome “Jerry” Tamburello, Jr. His beloved grandparents, Joe and Jacqueline Tamburello Raia and Phillip and Lena Tomasino, will miss and love him forever; as well as aunts and uncles, Dody and Stephanie Tamburello; Rosalyn and Darrell Sobotik; Toni Myers and Trevor Cleboski. His memory will live on in the hearts of his cousins Natalie and Erik Yates; David and Jake Sobotik; Nathan Tamburello; Danny, Graham and Berkeley Myers and extended family of the Tamburellos and Tomasinos. Matthew had many close friends that were like family who will remember him with a smile always.
Matthew is preceded in death by his grandfather, Joseph “JoJo” Nathan Tamburello, Jr., who passed less than three weeks after Matthew was born. They’re finally getting to know each other.
Matthew grew up in Clear Lake, Texas, where he attended CCISD schools from kindergarten through 12th grade and was a member of Clear Lake High School’s Class of 2017. Starting at a young age, his passion was basketball, and his specialty was the three-pointer. He never let his small stature hold him back from taking on the biggest opponents. Upon high school graduation, he attended Texas Tech University, graduating in December of 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He was a proud member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. His first and only job as an adult was at Bank of New York Mellon where he was admired and respected by his coworkers.
Matthew was the best big brother to Maddie and Little Jerry. He was a kind and loving leader of their threesome. Life will never be the same without their big bro. Matthew also loved his dog, Maxo, who he rescued while in college.
Matthew was a dreamer. His attitude remained positive, and he was optimistic about his future. He had visions of something bigger and better on the horizon. He was so ready to get his own place and fully make it on his own but never got the chance.
Matthew was a loving young man with the biggest heart. His final act of kindness was registering as an organ donor. Because of this selfless act, he was kept on life support for several days while recipients were found and notified that they would be able to live on. Matthew died a hero to so many. On March 25th, his family, friends and hospital staff gathered to say their final goodbyes. They lined the hallway and mourned as Matthew’s “Honor Walk” to the operating room commenced.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the ICU staff at HCA Cypress Hospital for their care and compassion for Matthew and his family and friends who held a weeklong vigil in the ICU waiting room. We are eternally grateful.
