Mary Margaret Schmidt

Mary graduate from Robert E Lee High School in Houston in 1969, and attended Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. She was a former member of Champions Golf Club and a very distinguished amateur golfer. Her golf accomplishments included 13-time Club Champion at Champions Golf Club, 1989 Women’s Southern Amateur Champion, and quarterfinalist in the 1991 US Women’s Mid-Am. Mary was also a member of John Wesley Methodist Church, an avid Astros fan, worked with Abandoned Animal Rescue, and was heavily involved with Col. Potters Cairn Rescue Network.

Mary is preceded in death by her father Curtis Harkins, mother Virginia Harkins, father-in-law Gordon Schmidt, and mother in law Dorothy Schmidt.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years Michael Schmidt, her brother Pat Harkins, and her two sons Richard Schmidt (47) and Chris Schmidt (44).

A small funeral service will take place on Thursday 5/2/24 at Forest Park Funeral Home on Westheimer. A celebration of life will take place on a later date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, Mary would be honored by donating to her favorite charity Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network.
