Mary Lee Roberts

Mary Lee Roberts, 83, of League City passed away on May 9, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born on August 9, 1931 as the only child of Albert and Parnell Wernli in Houston, Texas. She grew up in the Heights and was a graduate of Sam Houston High School and The University of Houston - Clear Lake. She retired from the State of Texas Health Services Department in 1996. Lee loved to travel, play bridge and dance with her group, The Frontier Squares. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband John W. Roberts, Jr. Left behind to cherish her memory are her son John W. Roberts, III, wife Kristy and their children Jennifer, Madeline, Victoria, Samantha, John IV, Mary and Taylor; daughter Stacey Owens, husband Pierce and their children Marshall and Bethany; and 8 great grandchildren as well as numerous other family members and friends. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM in The Chapel of Angels on the grounds of Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Following the interment, a reception will take place at Holland Hall located in the main building of Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to The Wounded Warrior Project.
