Mary Eunice Parker

Mary Eunice Parker loved her family dearly and had a passion for feeding them. A wonderful cook, every dish she prepared and every recipe she tried seemed to have a personal touch that made it taste a little better. Holidays and special events were an opportunity for her to go all out while feeding family, friends and sometimes even 'strays' who otherwise had no table to sit at for Christmas.

Outside of the home Mary found in herself a talent for political campaigns. During the 1950s she started getting involved in local office elections. She spent 30 years helping democrat candidates in local, state and federal races. For 14 years she served on the State Democrat Executive Committee. In 1984 her conservative views led Mary to abandon her previous party affiliation and fully commit to Republican candidates. Within several years she had contributed enough to be recognized by her new party and became a board member of a prestigious Republican woman's club. Mary went on to be a delegate to the 1990 national nominating convention.

Born August 24, 1931 in Wharton, Texas Mary grew up in nearby Edna. After graduating high school she moved to Bay City where she met her husband of 68 years, R. H. "Bob" Parker, Jr. Soon after welcoming their third child, Mary and Bob moved to Houston where they resided for nearly 55 years.

Mary was preceded in death by Bob in 2018. She was also preceded in passing by her first born, R. H. "Tripp" Parker, III and by her daughter, Dr. Robin Flowers. She is survived by her son, Chris Parker. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Nicole Parker, her beloved daughter-in-law, Lee Parker, and grandchildren, Lindsey Parker Melcher, R. H. "Skip" Parker, IV and Daniel Parker. Happy additions to the family are Travis Melcher and Vivianna Parker. Great grandchildren are Isaiah Dennison, Faith Gaines and R. H. "Tristan" Parker, V, Marylee Melcher, and Henry and Isela Parker.

Early after being blessed as a grandmother, Mary was affectionately given the name, "Bitty." For almost 5 decades "Bitty" was how most people knew her. She was indeed little, but with so much love in her heart, Bitty was a giant.
