MARY ANITA KING passed away peacefully at her home in Houston, Texas on Sunday, the 3rd of January, 2016, with family by her side after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Mary lived to be 79 years of age as a long time resident of Houston, but originally born in Minden, Texas to Walter W. Hays and Carrie Stover, on the 8th of July, 1936. Mary was a career bookkeeper, artist, grandmother and loving mother. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, and husband Robert King (Bob).
She is survived by her son Bob Jr. and his wife Dawn, two grandsons Drew and Bryan, brother Walter Hays and wife Sylvia of Vienna, VA, sister Martha Martinez of Tomball, TX, and 5 nieces and nephews. Mary was a gentle, kind, and loving person that loved all kinds of birds, but especially Hummingbirds. She once nursed an injured hummingbird back to health and released it back to the wild. She always had Chihuahua dogs, finches, parakeets and tropical fish in her home and always enjoyed caring for them. The family is grateful for all of the love, prayers and support during her illness. Mary will be greatly missed.
There will be a private funeral in Dallas, Texas where she will be laid to rest at Grove Hill Memorial Park on Monday, the 11th of January, 2016 at 1:00 PM. A remembrance and celebration of Mary's life will be held at a date yet to be determined.
