Mary Emma Dixon, was born in Sunset Heights, Houston, Texas on August 31, 1920 and died on May 5, 2012 after a courgeous battle with congestive heart disease. Mary graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1938 and was a life long member of North Main Baptist Church. Mary worked for the Sakowitz brothers, Simon and Abe as a ready-to-wear buyer until 1958. She then started selling real estate and had a very successful career as a broker until she retired in 1998.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Olin W. Dixon Sr.; mother, Laura Agnes Kennedy Dixon; sister, Lucille Margaret Havard and brother, Tommy Hurd Dixon. She is survived by her brother, Olin W. Dixon Jr. and nieces, Barbara A. Brantner of Lufkin, Julie D'Anne Dippel of Sugar Land, Linda D. Heath of Lake Jackson, Lynda Lee Rapp of Pearland and Sandra L. Session of Houston; nephews, Robert G. Dixon and Larry W. Dixon of Pollock, Thomas M. Dixon and Randall W. Dixon of Spring, Tracy W. Dixon of LaPorte and Richard O. Dixon of Houston.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2012 at Earthman Resthaven. A funeral service will be officiated by Dr. J. Dalton Havard on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven and burial will follow immediately at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery with the Dixon nephews and Mark S. Brantner, nephew-in-law, serving as pallbearers.
