Mary Kathleen Cole

On Tuesday, May 12, 2020, Mary Kathleen Cole, affectionately known as “Kathleen,” “Mom,” “Mother” and “MeeMa” went home to be with the LORD. A baptized believer in Jesus since her early teenage years, she faithfully served at Cochran Street Baptist Church and Lindale Baptist Church in North Houston, Texas. She spent most of her adult years raising her family there, serving in the Women’s Missionary Union and many other church related activities. She attended Jeff Davis High School in the early 1940’s and graduated high school in Wichita Falls, Texas as newly married to J.D. Cole from Houston, Texas. They had 3 children, Linda, Jimmy and David. She spent her children’s growing up years as caretaker of the home and later on working in the Linens department at Houston’s beloved Foley’s department store in downtown Houston. After her kids were grown, she worked for the Houston Police Department and various banks in Houston. The last decade of her life she spent living with her daughter and son-in-law in the mountains of Northern New Mexico where she came to love the scenery and bird watching from the variety that climate brings. She loved her family, was an avid reader, loved a good adventure, enjoyed nature, sports, laughing, joking and generally just having a good time. Her faith and love of the LORD was the most important aspect of her life. She is clothed with strength and dignity; her children arise and call her blessed. “Proverbs 31:25, 28

Visitation will be held, Tuesday, May 19, 2020 from 12:00-2:00 PM with a Chapel Service at 2:00 PM followed by Interment at 3:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas.
