Mary was born on January 11, 1924, in Lone Oak, Texas to Looney and Lillian Jennings White, the middle child of five siblings, including her older sisters Dorothy and Elizabeth, younger sister Bobbie Jean and little brother Kenneth. After her mother passed in the early thirties, Mary and her sisters were placed in the Reynolds Home in Dallas TX, a Presbyterian orphanage where she remained until graduating as Valedictorian of her Vickery Hillcrest High School Senior Class.
She and her sisters Elizabeth and Bobbie Jean were blessed by Harvey and Lavoice Westbrook who took them in to their home until they had married. The Westbrooks were Uncle Wes and Aunt Lic to their children and were as close to grandparents as one could possibly get.
On August 25, 1943, Mary married Robert M Cheaney, her childhood sweetheart, while he was on leave from his Air Force assignment during World War II. After Robert completed his education at SMU on the GI bill in 1949, they moved to Houston where they raised their family, Bob, Jim, and Tom.
Mary was a stay-at-home Mom for her boys until a second source of income became necessary to fund their college educations. She worked for Houston Contracting as a payroll clerk to fulfill that role.
After spending 35 years in Oak Forest, they moved to Deerfield Village in 1988. Robert’s health was already in decline, and he passed away in 1989.
She was blessed again a few years later when she met and married George “Bud” Kramer. They traveled and enjoyed a few brief years together before Bud passed in late 1996.
She is survived by her sons Bob (Angie), Jim (Dolores) and Tom, her six grandchildren Ashlee Wisenbaker (Matt), Mary Alyson Crismon (Kris), Haley Chilek (Garrett), Jeff Cheaney, Zach Cheaney (Amy), and Amy Parkman (Grant) and 13 great grandchildren.
