Marsadell Laverne Hamilton

On March 26, 1951, in Marshall, Texas, a daughter was born to the proud parents of Mary and the late Mark Reagan and they named her Marsadell Laverne. Her parents moved to Houston, Texas to the Fifth Ward area of Houston, Texas and this is where Marsadell began her education.

She attended elementary school, E. O. Smith Junior High School and Phillis Wheatley Senior High School and graduated in the top 10% of her class in May, 1969. Marsadell continued her education at the University of Houston where she obtained both a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Education. She was also a devoted member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

After graduating from college, Marsadell worked as a teacher and vice-principal for the M. B. Smiley High School located in North Forest Independent School District for many years. Early this year Marsadell Hamilton retired.

Marsadell Hamilton united with Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor A. A. McCardell, Sr. and has been a member for over 50 years. Sister Hamilton has been a faithful and loyal member of Pleasant Grove where she has continued to serve under the leadership of Pastor C. L. Jackson and Pastor Sheldon L. Jackson. Sister Hamilton served as the vice-president of Women United For Christ, a member of the Deaconess and Minister Wives, and an excellent Sunday School teacher in class #5 in the Adult Women Department. Every week you would find Sister Hamilton at the Hour of Power, Prayer Meeting and Teacher’s Meeting. A loud voice that will be missed.

Marsadell met Larry Hamilton and they were married 34 years ago and to their union two children were born, Larry, Jr. and Marla Joi.

Marsadell is preceded in death by her father, Mark Reagan.

She leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories: husband, Larry Hamilton, Sr.; children: Marla Joi Hamilton and Larry Joseph Hamilton, Jr.; mother, Mary Reagan; sisters: Merry Carter, Gwendolyn Moody and Carol Clough; grandchildren: LaKaylin Hamilton, Amari Hamilton: great nephew, Cory Brewer; along with a host of in-laws and other relatives and friends.
