Marlene Canahuati Green, age 67, of League City, TX joined the Lord in Heaven on September 25, 2021, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Services will be held on Saturday, October 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Eternal Peace at Forest Park Westheimer in Houston.
Marlene was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on December 30, 1953, to parents Joseph and Julia Canahuati. At the age of 11, she moved with her family to Houston, Texas. She graduated from Lamar High School. Marlene received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Houston and worked at Shell Research for many years as a chemist.
Marlene met her loving husband Paul Green while working in Toronto, Canada. The couple married within 6 months of dating on April 26, 1987. They lived in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada until 1989. They then moved to England where their son, Travis Green, was born in 1990. The family moved back to Houston and settled in Sugar Land, before moving to League City in 2003 after spending time in Jasper, Indiana.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Julia Canahuati, brother George Canahuati, and niece Avery Canahuati. She is survived by her husband Mr. Paul Green, son Dr. Travis Green, brother Mr. Henry Canahuati and his wife Sandy, sister Ms. Odette Canahuati, brother Mr. Edward Canahuati, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marlene enjoyed helping her communities in Galveston, League City, and beyond. She was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron for four terms and Deputy Grand Matron. She spent Christmas Days with her husband and son at the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Galveston, TX. She enjoyed spending time with friends, fundraising, volunteering, travelling, and planning events. Marlene was tri-lingual and loved to solve word puzzles and watch her favorite TV shows.
Family members and friends will remember Marlene for her strength during adversity, her undying love and support for her family, and her brilliant mind. Marlene will be greatly missed by all, but will live on in the hearts and memories of her loved ones.
