Marilyn Short Chalmers

Marilyn graduated from Ball High School, Galveston, TX; Gulf Park College, Gulfport, MS; and the University of Texas, Austin, TX with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Marilyn was a resident of Houston since 1967.

The most interesting and rewarding job was the year spent as a zoo keeper with the Houston Zoo - 1968-69. The experiences with the animals prompted a photo safari to Africa in 1970.

Marilyn married Warren H. "Chuck" Chalmers, on March 3, 1971. She learned to have a good time in life and everyday with Chuck was an adventure. They scuba dived, flew airplanes and in hot air balloons, rode the mules to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, rafted for six days and nights on the Colorado River and traveled extensively.

Marilyn was involved in several charity events throughout the years...Arabian Horse Show and the Pine Oaks Charity Horse Show. She was a life member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, serving as a committeeman on the Lady's Go Texan, poultry auction, souvenir program and the school art committees.

Marilyn was freelanced as a graphic designer for fifteen years prior to joining Compaq Computer Corporation in 1983.

Marilyn will be cremated and her ashes scattered where the shopping is best - Santa Fe, NM and in Monument Valley, UT to be with Chuck.
