Maria A. Montes

Maria A. Montes went to be with her lord on October 20, 2015 in Houston, Texas. She was born in Matamoros to proud parents Jose Rivera and Margarita Gonzalez-Rivera. Maria loved to cook, sew, crochet, telling jokes, gardening, baking, dancing and singing. She was her husband’s treasure and her daughters’ pillar of strength. With a beautiful heart and a giving spirit, Maria gave all of her life to her family as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend that will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband Guillermo Montes; children: Maria Acevedo, Patricia Rubalcava, Margie Vallejo and her husband Carlos Escobar, Jimmy Cabrera, Chico Cabrera and Melissa Lopez; grandchildren: Andrew and Jonathan Acevedo, Erika, Priscilla and Mark Rubalcava, Christopher Vallejo and Arianna Escobar; great-grandchild Sophia Vallejo; brothers: Adrian and Joe Rivera; sisters: Angelita Cervantes and Margarita Sanchez and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The family would like to invite friends for a visitation on Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM in the Grand Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas 77098, followed with a rite of committal at Brookside Memorial Park & Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
