Margaret Attaway

Margaret West Attaway, 92, born October 23, 1931 in Bishop, Texas to Mary Ola West and James Harrell West, passed from this life on June 19, 2024 in Houston, Texas. She married Lesly Dawson Attaway on July 26, 1952 and was married for 57 years until his death.

Margaret was a student at Baylor University majoring in Home Economics for three years before she embarked on a lifetime of practical application, caring for her husband, four children, and nine grandchildren. She was known for her kindness, compassion, and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Attaway Davidson of Houston, her brother, Tilden Harrell West of Lake Jackson, infant sister Jannette and her parents. She is survived by sons, David Attaway and wife Linda, Douglas Attaway and wife Ann, Dan Attaway and wife Karen, one son-in-law, John Young Davidson; grandchildren, Michael Attaway, Kimberley Attaway McElroy and husband Dan, Christopher Attaway, Timothy Attaway, Scott Attaway, Christy Attaway, Sarah Davidson, Kelly Davidson, and John Alden Davidson; one great-grandson, Dawson Wayne McElroy, as well as a host of family and friends.

The memorial service will be Thursday, June 27 at 10:30am at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston. Dr. Duane Brooks and Larry Bertrand of Tallowood Baptist Church will officiate. A private family burial will precede the service. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gracewood, a home for single moms and their children, the Alzheimer's Association, or the charity of your choice.
