She was a life-long Houstonian and a graduate of Lamar High School. She graduated from Stanford University in 1965. After college, she returned to Houston and married the love of her life, Martin J. Taylor III, in 1966. While raising her children, Marcia spent her time helping others through volunteer work. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years, a Team Mom, a Sunday School Teacher, and a second mother to many. In later years, continuing her passion for volunteer work, Marcia was very involved and served as President of Houston Junior Woman’s Club. Perhaps, one of her greatest passions was participating in volunteer activities at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. She was an active member and past President of the Altar Guild for more than 30 years.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Allan Scott Key and Marcia Riley Key. Marcia is survived by her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Martin J. Taylor III, daughters Saralee Taylor Parker and husband Daniel, Carol M. Trautwein and husband Michael, and her loving grandchildren Grace Nicole Trautwein, Garrett Raymond Parker, Ryan Martin Trautwein, and Haley Scott Parker. Marcia is also survived by her sister Marilyn Hart Key and many loving cousins.
Marcia touched so many lives and her warm smile will be missed by many. The family would like to thank Dr. Barry Siller and his staff for their kind and compassionate care.
The memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 6th of July, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Dr. Russell J. Levenson, Rector, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent Bagby Parish Hall.
Prior to the memorial service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed toward St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, Altar Guild, 717 Sage Rd., Houston, TX 77056; or to St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church, Altar Guild, 2160 Cooper Lake Rd., Smyrna, GA 30080.
