Marcia was born May 15, 1946, to the late Grandville Lipscomb Swift, Sr., and Mary Adelaide Murray Swift. She accepted Jesus Christ at a young age through the Disciples of Christ religious organization.
Marcia was a CPA. Her career included working with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for about 25 years. She worked in the IRS Dallas Regional Office as a regional analyst and as a Houston IRS Group Manager until her early retirement to care for her mother in Virginia. After her mother's passing, she returned to Houston and began working for several years in her tax business, Marcia O. Swift Tax Consulting and Preparation.
Marica was a southern belle who always looked exquisite with the perfect hairstyle, makeup, manicure, pedicure, couture wear, and a contagious smile. She was loving and giving, had great integrity and work ethic. Marcia had a spicy spirit and a wit about her, for example, snap-back responses. She was willing to help others and donate to charities. Marcia served on the Board of Directors for Babies Youth Children Empowerment Ministries, Inc., a Nonprofit, and held the treasurer position for ten years. She loved decorating homes, buying antiques, dining at restaurants with friends, and socializing with her neighbors in the courtyard and on game nights. One of Marcia's greatest treasures in life was scuba diving in many countries, observing unique creatures of the sea.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grandville Swift Sr. and Mary Swift, brothers Grandville "Mickey" Swift Jr. and William Swift, and sister Jacqueline Swift Taylor. She is survived by her brother Andrew Swift (Margaret), her godson Jerimiah B. Wright, and many relatives.
Marcia's family and her Houston care team of friends (Lynda Wright Gittens, Sally Parker Corcoran, Debbie McDonald, and John Matejka) wish to thank Dr. Joanne Kim, Apex Care Home Health staff, Brookdale Sugarland staff, Memorial Hermann Sugarland staff, Reliant at Home Hospice staff, and T C Helping Hands for their part in her health care.
