Lucille Wright 88 passed away peacefully Friday September 6, 2019 in Houston, Texas. Lucille was born November 26, 1930 to Amanda and George Williamson in Spur, Texas. In her early childhood she moved to East Texas where as a young lady accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. Her strong relationship with Christ would help guide her throughout her life and the hardships that came along. When Lucille was 18 she moved with her mom and several siblings to Houston.
Christmas Eve, 1956, Lucille married Alfred Wright and they had one son Stanley Wright. Alfred worked for The Houston Fire Department while Lucille was a housewife and mom. They had a wonderful marriage and were devoted and loving parents. Alfred passed away April 16, 1972 leaving Lucille as a single mother. She was so proud of her #1 son, as she continued to call him, right up until she passed away. Early on the family were members of Oak Forest Baptist Church and later Lucille would attend and become a member of Lindale Assembly of God, which she loved very much.
Lucille was preceded in death by each of her 8 brothers and sisters and their spouses, and her parents, Amanda and George. We can imagine the celebration when she reached Heaven.
Lucille is survived by her son; Stanley Wright and his wife Diane. Grandchildren Brittany Zimmerman and husband Aaron, Tyler Wright and wife Beth. Great Grandchildren Branton Wright, Eli Zimmerman and Brinley Wright. Along with many nieces and nephews.
During the last 5 years of her life Lucille was a resident of Parson’s House in Cypress, Texas. She met many friends, attended chapel and was a part of many field trips. During this time she loved to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for most every meal. One resident was concerned she was going to turn into a peanut! This was a running joke that even Lucille laughed about.
Lucille was a patriot and loved her country. Throughout her life she was a gracious supporter of Billy Graham’s ministries, Wounded Warriors, Star of Hope Mission and many other organizations as well as Presidential elections.
Her life is celebrated as a victorious life with a strong Christian faith, tremendous love for her family and lots of laughter. She was full of joy.
We would like to thank the staff at Parsons House for the love and support they have provided over these last five years. Lucille was so happy and felt secure.
Also, we would like to thank Dr. Richard Padrosa and all the team of doctors and caretakers at Kindred Hospital for their support, comfort and love over the last several months.
Lucille will be missed by her family and friends but we are rejoicing that she is reunited with her husband, family and friends in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Until we meet again.
