Louis Peter Fantini

He was born in Dundalk, Maryland on August 1, 1931 to Anthony Fantini and his wife Giovanna Maria Garlatti Fantini Ganz. Louis, or Louie, as he was known by many, joined the service and honorably served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marines Corps from 1949 to 1951, and is a veteran of the Korean War. Following his service, he was employed at Armco Steel, where he worked for 30 years before retiring in 1988.

Louie and his wife, Maxine, enjoyed numerous vacations throughout the United States and Europe. Although they were members of the University of Texas Alumni Association, they enjoyed going on trips with the Traveling Aggies of Texas A&M University, where they made many lifelong friends. They also enjoyed visiting family members in Italy and Mississippi, and spent numerous summers in Vail, Colorado. Louie was an avid sports fan, and especially loved watching college football and his favorite baseball teams, the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros.

Louie possessed a personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important; the simplicity of living a life with those you love.

He is survived by his sister, Helen Allee, her husband, William Allee; and his cousin by marriage, Patsy Edwards Carroll. He also leaves behind seven nieces, one nephew, and numerous great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of forty-two years, Maxine Fantini, his father, Anthony Fantini, his mother, Giovanna Maria Garlatti Fantini Ganz; his stepfather, Romano Ganz; his sister Purina (Pam) Musselman; and his great nephew, Matthew Ellis.

A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 3 o’clock in the afternoon.

Memorial donations in memory of Louie can be made to the St. Paul’s Methodist Foundation of Houston or the American Heart Association.
