Mary 'Linda' Ley Ament went home peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, the 18th of December 2024. Linda was born in Houston on the 19th of August 1942, to parents Homer Edward Ley and Emma Alice Perry Ley.
Linda, a native Houstonian graduated from Lamar High School in 1960. She attended Texas Christian University for two years and then transferred to The University of Houston where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. Linda was a proud member of the sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma. She continued her work with them for many years.
Linda had a passion for teaching children. She was a teacher at The Awty School for several years, teaching grades 2nd-4th, and later became a supervisor for grades 1st-5th. During these years she was also a Sunday school teacher.
Linda had many loves and hobbies throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening, was a great cook, an avid reader, she loved watching football with family, she especially loved to travel and attend her bible study classes. When Linda moved to Lake Travis, living in Lakeway, she found a great fondness for the hill country. She loved being surrounded by the nature of the area. While living on Lake Travis, she was a member of several organizations, including, the Lakeway Garden Club and The Lakeway Women's Association. Linda's greatest love though, was spending time with friends, neighbors, and particularly her family. Being a 'Mom' to her two children and a 'Mimi' to her five grandchildren brought her tremendous joy.
Linda was a true woman of faith and a loyal servant of God. She was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church of Katy, TX for many years. Linda held her faith in God as one of her highest priorities.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Homer Ley and Emma Alice Ley. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Carolyn Cutler Clifford, husband Dale Garrison Clifford of Spicewood, TX, their children, Kirby Ley Clifford of Houston, Hannah Denise Clifford Fulton, husband Andrew James Fulton, of Houston; her son, Phillip Stephen Cutler II, wife DeeAndrea Valentine Cutler of Aledo, TX their children, Hayden Andrew Cutler, of Golden, CO, Ethan 'Garret' Cutler, of Aledo, TX and Chase Stephen Cutler of Ft Worth; sister, Nancy Wison, of Houston, as well as numerous nieces and nephew, great nieces/nephews and several special friends and neighbors.
There will be a private memorial service held at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons Funeral Directors in Houston. A private family ceremony will be held on Lake Travis.
A donation can be made in Linda Ament's name to St. Peter's United Methodist Church, 20775 Kingsland Blvd in Katy.
