Leroy Tobias

LeRoy I. Tobias, 86, of Houston, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 after a valiant battle with larynx cancer. He was born on June 16, 1926 in Ellinger, Texas and is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Otillie Tobias and brother Alvin. Leroy is survived by his loving wife, Gladys, of 61 years, daughter Brenda Roliard and her husband, Larry, son Harvey Tobias, son Larry Tobias and his wife, Rita, sister Mary Ann Jurica, sister-in-laws Laura Muzny and Leona Muzny, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Leroy worked as an inventory control clerk for Weingarten’s for 34 years. He was a devoted parishioner of Assumption Catholic Church for nearly 60 years where he was an usher, chairman of the bingo committee and chairman of the food committee for the annual church bazaar. He was awarded Parishioner of the Year in 1981. Leroy actively participated in several organizations including the Knights of Columbus, K.J.T., and the Harvest Years. Visitation with family will be on Tuesday, Feb. 26 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven Chapel. Vigil service/rosary at 7:00 pm. A mass to celebrate Leroy’s life will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 10:00 AM at Assumption Catholic Church, 901 Roselane St. with interment at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy.
