With deep sadness, brothers Samuel and Alan Wakim share the passing of their beloved mother and family matriarch, Latifee Younes Naufal Wakim, on the morning of Saturday, March 22, 2025, in Kingwood, Texas, after an extended illness. She departed peacefully, surrounded by her family and dear friends.
Latifee was born on December 8, 1940, to the late Younes Naufal and Sussane Hanna in Saida, Lebanon. She grew up in a citrus orchard alongside her three brothers, George, William, and Kamil. In May 1959, she married the late Dr. Samir Youssef Wakim of Mieh Mieh, Lebanon, with whom she shared 58 wonderful years until his passing in 2017.
Together, they raised a loving family and built a legacy through multiple businesses, including the renowned Latifee’s Alterations on Loop 494 in Kingwood, Texas. Generations of Continental and United Airlines pilots, as well as marching band members and their families from Kingwood, New Caney, and Humble, fondly remember Latifee for her warm hospitality, engaging conversations, and impeccable craftsmanship.
Latifee will always be remembered for her vibrant sense of humor, exceptional Lebanese cooking, boundless generosity, and unwavering devotion to God, her family, and her two beloved countries—her native Lebanon and her adopted homeland, the United States.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Milka; parents, Younes and Sussane; and her loving husband, Samir.
She is survived by her sons, Alan and Samuel, as well as Samuel’s wife, Hannah George Matta Wakim, and their children, Rita, David, Michael, and Luke. She is also survived by her brothers, George and his wife, Claire; William and his wife, Salma; and Kamil and his wife, Nelly. Her extended families—the Wakim, Nawfal, Matta, Gaby, Tayyar, Hayeck, and Hanna families—mourn her loss but find comfort in knowing she is now in God’s loving embrace.
Samuel and Alan would like to state that they deeply appreciate the love and support of their family and friends during this time, including Antoine Tartamella, Jennifer Chapman Morris, and the compassionate nurses and staff of St. Joseph’s and Landon Ridge.
A visitation for Latifee will be held Monday, March 31, 2025 at 9:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039, with a funeral service to follow at 10:30 AM in Brookside's Grand Chapel. Burial to follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
Acting as pallbearers will be Antoine Tartamella, Edward Murphy, Carlos Morris, David Wakim, Michael Wakim, Mike Bronzoulis, Joseph Gabriel and Jay Clegg.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Latifee’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Eternal rest, grant unto her, O Lord - and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
