Larry Dean Roberts was born to Harold William Roberts and Almeda Mary Roberts on January 15,1937 in a hospital in Wellington, Kansas which years later was donated and became known as the Chisholm Trail Museum. Larry would say his birthplace is now recorded in history. Larry passed away on August 25, 2023 at the age of 86.
Larry grew up on a Kansas wheat farm and helped his Dad at harvest time. He graduated from high school in Caldwell, Kansas and Abilene Christian University where he met the love of his life Lois Bartlett. Larry and Lois recently celebrated their 61st anniversary.
Larry's life-long career was that of a Chemist with several chemical companies located around the Houston ship channel. He was a long time member of the American Chemical Society and retired from Aristech Chemical Corporation.
Larry was a Christian and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He served as an elder for 28 years in the Church of Christ and taught Bible classes. He is currently a member of Pearland Church of Christ.
Larry was a member of American Motors Owners Association. He was the original owner of a 1969 Javelin, drove it to work for many years and has maintained and enjoyed it for 54 years. He entered the Javelin in numerous car shows and national AMO meets and received a number of awards. His Javelin has been entered in the Houston Autorama for several years. Larry and the Javelin were recently featured as part of an original owners issue of the American Motoring news publication.
Larry and Lois were blessed with two children (a third child if you count the Javelin) and six grandchildren.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Almeda Roberts. He is survived by his wife Lois and their children Kelli (Bill) Helms and Bart (DeAnn) Roberts, grandchildren Lindsey (Alex) Helms, Brandon (Jenny) Helms, Katelyn Helms, River, Racer, and Rain Roberts, aunt Bonnie Backues, brother-in-law Tommy Bartlett, niece Tori Landis, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private family funeral service for Larry will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, followed by a private family committal service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
A public Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 2nd at 2pm at the Pearland Church of Christ, 2217 N Grand Blvd, Pearland, Texas with a reception/visitation to follow.
