Mr. Larry B. Mapps Sr.

LB was born on May 11, 1941 in Kilgore, Texas to the late Lorene K Sanders and M C Mapps. He was raised by the late Malinda Howard. LB attended school in Kilgore and graduated from C B Dansby High School in May 1961.

After graduating high school, LB moved to Houston, TX and settled in the Old First Ward area. There he would go on to meet a host of friends and make life lasting connections. He was an avid pool player, winning trophies and tournaments for his skill. He also spent many days and nights fishing, which was one of his favorite pastimes. When given any opportunity for leisure time, LB would watch plenty of television, but he loved sports. He would watch any sport that was on tv although his favorite was college football. He spent time working a few jobs before he retired.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorene Sanders, MC Mapps and stepmother Mary A. Mapps, four brothers Henry E. Toliver, Bill B., Sadd L., and Donnie T. Jones. Four sisters Eva L. Medford, Lou E. Clayton, Linda S. Anderson, and Beverly Mills.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife Mary H. Mapps, three children, Carol D. Young, Larry B. Mapps Jr (Jennifer), and David M. Mapps; four grandchildren Shon-Marc Lewis (Nae), Dianna Young, Emma G. and Jacob J. Mapps; three great grandchildren: Ma'Kyla, Khole, and Khari Lewis; siblings, Pearl Jones, Regina Williams, Zella Medford (Robert), Mary Sanders, Doris Ervin (Larry), Patrice Neal, Neva Caldwell (Richard), Silvia Medford (Shelvie), Lisa Mapps, Anthony Jones (Renee), Joseph Jones (Arnda), MC Mapps Jr (Marsha), and Roddy Mapps. A host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends
