Larry was born in Houston, TX on January 22, 1948. He performed duties as the quarterback for Smiley High School, graduated, and went on to receive a BS in Business from Texas Tech. He then came home to run his parent’s thriving grocery store.
Larry had multiple talents and expressed them through a variety of careers over time. He worked for Nimmon’s Real Estate in the ‘80’s as a Commercial Realtor. He spent the ‘90’s working in retail as a manager at Toys R Us. In the early 2000’s, he earned his Novell Certification and worked in technology. He completed his career at Knight Security/MCA as the procurement manager.
Larry was a member of the Unity of the Brethren church in the Heights, the church where he grew up and which still has pictures of him on the wall as he attended the youth program as a teenager. He was also a member of Bible Study Fellowship where he poured over God’s Word. And of course, he was a member of multiple golf courses where he enjoyed showing off his beautiful wife and the golf skills he’d taught her. Larry had many passions throughout his life. As a young adult, he had a passion for flying and guns. As an older adult his passion transferred to golf where he could regularly hit in the 80’s. But greater than all these was his passion for his family. He adored his wife of 50 years, Pat King, and sacrificed anything necessary out of love for her. He was passionate about his kids, Marc and Carrie, and demonstrated this passion by his constant availability to listen, guide, love, and show up in their lives. This passion extended to his “kids-in-law” and grandkids. He’ll always be remembered for his loyalty, dedication, and hard work for this family and the extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Larry is survived by his best friend and wife of 50 years, Pat King. His brother, Jerry King. His children Marc King (spouse Tori) and Carrie Snider (spouse Jason). His nephews Ronnie, Donnie, and Chuck King, niece Lorrie Waters. And his cherished grandchildren, Bradley Sanders, Cannon King, Colton King, Scout King, Anaka Snider, and Jason Snider.
