It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Dianne. She entered heaven peacefully surrounded by those she loved on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024. Dianne was born on October 4, 1956, in Odessa, TX to the late Shirley Samples. Dianne was the only girl of 6 children. Dianne joined heaven with her brother, James Wallace and grandmother Inez Montgomery. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Scott Bowans; her daughter Brooke Spence; son in law Graham Spence; grandchildren Jude and Maya Filson and Isla Spence. Her brothers Charles and Alton Samples; sister-in-law Annette Bass; cousins Tina Rooks and Karen Walker; nieces Kayci Harvey and Meagan Wallace and nephew Justin Nichols as well as many more family members and friends whom she loved dearly.
Dianne was a woman whose kindness, humor, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. Dianne never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to connect with anyone she encountered, often giving selflessly even if it meant she was left with nothing.
Dianne had a sense of humor like no one else. Her quick wit and infectious laughter brightened every room she entered. She often joked with Scott, saying the first thing she would do upon reaching heaven would be to find out who killed JonBenét Ramsey, and I promise she truly meant it. Her lively spirit shone through in moments like when she would jam out to "I Like Big Butts and I Cannot Lie" at the nursing home, spreading joy and laughter to everyone around her.
Dianne loved deeply and fiercely. Her family and friends were the center of her world, and she shared an extraordinary bond with her other half, Scott, for the past 30 years. Despite the challenges they faced, she never gave up on him and ultimately saved him. Scott was her person, her rock, and her best friend. Dianne's deep love extended beyond her family and friends to her cherished small dogs: Kirby, Woody, Jackson, Tinker, and especially Nikki. Nikki, a feisty 5-pound fluff ball, was known for growling and snapping at anyone who came too close, except for Dianne. Despite Nikki's fierce demeanor, she adored Dianne, much like everyone else whose lives Dianne touched. Dianne had a unique way of giving each dog a full name, calling them out affectionately when they misbehaved. Nikki was lovingly known as Nikki Marie Michelle Bowans. Just as with people, Dianne's warmth and love made her dogs flock to her, loving her dearly.
For the last 10 years, Dianne fought bravely for her life. Despite losing her ability to walk, being placed in a full-time home health care facility, enduring countless hospital visits, weekly dialysis appointments, and battling cancer, she faced each day with a smile and an unwavering zest for life. Her strength and determination were truly inspiring.
Although Dianne's body could no longer continue the fight, we take comfort in knowing she is now with our Heavenly Father, free of pain and able to walk and dance again. Heaven has gained a beautiful soul, and we know it is a better place with her there. Dianne will be deeply missed by many, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A special thanks from the family to the ICU doctors and nurses at HCA Houston Healthcare West, the entire staff and all the caregivers at West Houston Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and all of the EMT drivers who would drive her to all of her appointments. Thank you just doesn’t seem like enough but from the bottom of our hearts we deeply appreciate each of you for helping her fight this battle!
Rest in peace, Dianne. Your love, laughter, and spirit will remain with us always.
