Karl was born on December 18, 1949, in Houston, Texas, where he was raised by his devoted mother, Siria Flynn, alongside his two sisters. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1969, spending most of his service stationed at the naval base in San Diego, California.
In 1990, Karl married Toyah Chambers Mitchell, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage until her passing in 2010. They made their home in Houston, where Karl remained for the rest of his life.
Karl was a man of quiet strength, loyalty, and resilience. His family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Afton Oaks Nursing Home for their care and compassion during Karl’s final days. A special thanks is also extended to the Spring Branch Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, whose support and friendship meant so much to him over the years.
A memorial service honoring both Karl and his mother, Siria Flynn, will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 a.m., with interment to follow the service at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Karl and Siria’s honor to the Houston SPCA, a cause close to their hearts.
Karl will be remembered for his dedication to family, quiet service, and enduring kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
