Karen died suddenly after by-pass surgery complicated by diabetes. Predeceased by parents: Hilliard C. DuBose and Hazel Barnett DuBose; grandparents: McCoy and Velma Barnett, Tom and Ruby DuBose; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Survived by sister, Renae DuBose; ex-husband, Woody Patterson; niece, Holly Burton & husband Larry; niece, Ashlyn and nephew, Luke. Partner, Manuel Benitez III; his mother, Eva Benitez; his siblings: Dieanne Lathrop, Josephine "Penny" Fohl & Richard Benitez; his children: Lisa Benitez, Melissa Benitez Cadelago & Manny Benitez, IV; known as Grandma Karen to Gabriella, Isabella and Zachary Cadelago, Alyssa and Christian Benitez. Karen was co-owner of El Dorado Paving with Chuck Spishock and was involved in many organizations including Women Contractors Association and lifetime member of HLSR. Karen never met a stranger and was loved by everyone. She fit in, no matter where she was and whoever she met was an instant friend. She was an avid biker and golfer until she was forced to give both up due to arthritis. She lived life to the fullest, took no prisoners and was a Force to be reckoned with. She will live on in everyone of those whom she touched in life. Visitation will be from 1PM until the start of the Memorial service at 3PM on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Brookside. Memorial contributions may be sent to your local SPCA in Karen’s name.
