Julie Kay (Cowles) Veselka was born on July 12, 1956 in Monroe, LA and passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025 at her home in Cypress, TX. Julie was kind-hearted and compassionate, taking pride in her family and the unique bond she held with them.
Julie began her career in the real estate industry at the age of 17, working for 35 years. After retirement, she began her God chosen role as a Grammy. Every breath she took was for her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them: whether it was playing UNO, showing up for their sporting events, going to the beach or just hanging out visiting. Her favorite people were her grandchildren and she made sure everyone knew, especially them.
Julie and George were married on October 5, 1974 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Houston, TX. Within a few weeks, their love blossomed and they knew they couldn’t imagine a life without each other. From there, they established a family and enjoyed over 50 years of happiness.
Julie was the heart of her family, always putting their needs before her own. She always made sure to place angels around her loved ones to ensure their protection. She offered the best advice and told the funniest jokes. Her devotion and love won’t ever be forgotten.
Julie is preceded in death by her sister, Carole Bayless; and her brother, Norris Cowles. She’s survived by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, George Joseph Veselka Jr; son George III (Joey) and wife Julie; daughter Kellie and husband Marshall Odom III; grandchildren, George IV (Joey) and Audrey Veselka, and Marshall IV, Kaylee, and Kyle Odom; and “Grammy’s dog” Samuel.
In lieu of flowers, hug your grandkids, go to Garner State Park, visit the beach, get out on a lake somewhere, and cherish your time. You never know how much you have.
