Joycelyn Velma Wofford Moore died peacefully in her sleep on May 28th, 2013. She was born in Runge Texas on October 2nd, 1934 to Velma (Foster) and Cornelius Wofford. Joycelyn graduated from Patti Welder High School and Victoria College in Victoria Texas. She married Frank Moore on December 23rd, 1955. Joycelyn received a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Ball State University.
As a military wife, Joycelyn lived in many places including Washington DC where she was secretary to two different congressmen, Hawaii, Germany, Abilene, Texas and Vacaville, California. When Frank retired from the Air Force they settled in Houston, Texas. Joycelyn worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 25 years and retired December 31st, 2011.
Joycelyn was a gifted writer and a great cook.
Joycelyn was preceded in death by her father Cornelius Wofford; her brother Gayland Wofford; and her sister Gloria “Jeannie” Wofford. She is survived by her husband Frank Moore; her daughter Michelle Moore Wehe and her husband Chris Wehe; and her granddaughter Caitlin Bridgit Moore Wehe, all of Houston; and her mother Velma Foster Wofford of Tomball Texas.
She will be buried in Victoria Texas.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Houston Hospice, the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
