"Joseph Basil Lombardo-On December 3rd, Joe, with the love of his life at his side, returned to his Heavenly Father. Beloved Husband, Father and Paw Paw, he was born August 30, 1938, in Marlin, Texas. Joe was a graduate of St. Thomas High School, Class of 1956. Joe worked for Houston Coca-Cola from 1958 – 1975, starting as a route salesman and eventually reaching the position of Home Marketing Manager. Joe joined Dr. Pepper Bottling Company, where he worked from 1975 – 2000, attaining the title of Vice President of Sales in 1983. Upon his semi-retirement, Joe spent countless hours at his beloved Rockin’ 8 Ranch. Joe was a board member of the Houston Grocery Manufacturer’s Representatives Association (HGMRA), and was later elected, and served as HGMRA’s President in 1993-1994. He was a part of the St. Thomas High School Alumni Association, where in 2009, he was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award. He was a 3rd degree honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus and a Council 2917 member. He was a member of both St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Houston, Texas, as well as St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton, Texas.
Joe is preceded by his parents, Mary Todaro and Basil Joseph Lombardo. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Mathis, of over 60 wonderful years. His siblings, JoAnn Turano and husband, Charles of Plano, Texas, and Josephine Pomilla, and husband Salvador, of Houston, Texas. Brother-in-law George, and sister-in-law Sharon Murray, of Houston, Texas. His children, Mary Heffernan, and her husband Larry, of Austin, Texas, Antoinette Roberts and her husband, Todd Sr., of Driftwood, Texas, Basil Lombardo and his wife, Lisa, of Buda, Texas, Joseph Lombardo and wife, Gaylene of Houston, Texas, Josephine Lombardo Mabry of Austin, Texas, Bernadette Drabek, and her husband, Larry of Houston, Texas, Patricia Schultz, and her husband, Kenneth of Houston, Texas, and Vick Lombardo and wife, Julie of Wheaton, Illinois. His grandchildren, L.R. Heffernan, III, Maurene Furr, Patrick Heffernan, Michelle Iken, Jennifer Speyrer, Todd S. Roberts, Jr., Michael Joseph Roberts, Melissa Ivicic, Joseph P. Lombardo, Patricia Mae Kloepping, Kimberly Cegielski, Julie Kanewske, Samantha Lombardo, Jacob Mabry, Aaron Mabry, Angela Drabek, Alizabeth Vasquez, Christen Roberts, Chad Jansky, Sarah E. Lombardo, Samuel Joseph Lombardo, Randy Schultz, and preceded in death by Adam Wayne Drabek ‘92. He had 24 Great Grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be held Wednesday evening, December 6, 2017 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3600 Brinkman Houston, Texas, 77018, with Visitation at 6PM and Rosary at 7PM.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday afternoon, December 7, 2017, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3600 Brinkman Houston, Texas, 77018; with gravesite services following at Forest Park Lawndale."
