Mr. Joseph Curry known to most as “Joey” or affectionately known as Uncle Joey was born on September 3rd 1963 in Chicago, Illinois. Joey was baptized at West Point Baptist Church in Chicago, IL in 1974. Everyone who knew Joey will remember his giving nature, friendly laugh and outgoing personality. Joey was the big brother to all of his nieces and nephews.
Joey’s interests & hobbies include being an accomplished cross-country runner, music connoisseur, reading, opinionated sports fan, martial arts movies and memorabilia collector. He always enjoyed a healthy debate on a wide range of topics from politics to fashion. Joey was an intense chess player and shared his knowledge by teaching the youngsters chess.
Mr. Joey Curry’s education foundation started to form at Rich East High School in Park Forest, Illinois and New Rochelle High School in New York. He later earned an associate applied science degree in communications from Montgomery Community College in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. He also obtained a certificate for a Nursing Home Activity Director from Lone Star Community College in Houston, Texas.
Joey held various jobs at a broad range of work places including CompUSA, Fry's Electronics, Best Buy, Sears, Montgomery Wards, Sound Warehouse, Walgreens, Eckerd and Loudens Sprinkler Service.
Joseph Curry departed this life on April 6th. He leaves to mourn his parents Will & Ella Curry, Sister, Hallie & Brother-in-law Lucien Dorsey, Brother, Will & Sister-in-law Lynce Lucas and Brother, Tony & Sister-in-law Carolyn Douglas-Curry.
His clever spirit will continue to be a blessing to our fond memories which we will always cherish.
