With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jose F. "Joe" Alvares, a beloved resident of Houston, Texas, who peacefully departed on June 7, 2024, at the age of 91. Born in Mexico on June 26, 1932, Joe's life was a testament to love, hard work, and dedication. On February 4, 1967, he joined in marriage with Rosaura "DeDe" Alvarez, sharing over five decades of cherished memories and unwavering devotion.
Joe found fulfillment in his career as an Upholsterer, where his craftsmanship and passion shone through in every piece he worked on. His love for his work was only rivaled by his passion for planting and nurturing life, a reflection of his nurturing spirit and connection to the natural world.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Rosaura Alvarez, stepdaughter Elida Bryce, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his sister Lus Alvarez. Although he is no longer with us, Joe's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Joe is preceded in death by his sons Richard Alvarez and Robert Ray Balderas, and his brother Jesse Alvarez. While we mourn their loss, we find comfort in the knowledge that they are now reunited in eternal peace.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the visitation for Joe, which will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, located at 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A prayer service will be held during this time at 6:00 PM.
The funeral service to honor Joe's life will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM, also at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Immediately following the service, a committal ceremony will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
In tribute to Joe's love for the Astros, the family kindly requests that all attendees wear Astros attire to any of the services, honoring Joe's passion and spirit.
During this time of mourning, let us hold onto cherished memories of Joe and find solace in the love and support of one another. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire us all.
