Johnnie Joe Polasek, 78, of Houston, TX passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born May 11, 1935 in Wharton, TX to Theo and Agnes Polasek. In 1958, John graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity and Texas Society of Professional Engineers. John met his wife, Emily at UT. They were married for 55 years. After graduation, he joined the Army Reserves, and thereafter he went to work for the Texas Department of Transportation. He worked for TxDot for 47 years before retiring. He loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching all of their sports activities. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved the outdoors. John enjoyed cooking for his grandchildren every Sunday.
John was preceded in death by his son, John Christopher Polasek; his parents, Theodore Otto Polasek and Agnes Marie Kucera Polasek (Wharton, TX). He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Emily Ann Polasek; his son, Ted Polasek; his daughters, Carol Hankins and her husband, Don, Kristi Standish and her husband, Brian, Katherine Alvarez and her husband, Leonel; his grandchildren, Brittanie Polasek, Kimberly Polasek, Jonathan Polasek, Rebecca Polasek, Ashley Hankins, Allison Hankins, Andrew Alvarez, Christopher Alvarez, Shea Standish, Brian Standish, Matthew Standish; his sister, Agnes Foster and her husband, Logene (Fulshear, TX ); his brothers, Theo Louis Polasek and wife, Mary Ann (Montgomery, TX), Joe Allen Polasek and wife, Mary (Cross Junction, VA); sisters-in-law, Margie Kvinta (Yoakum, TX), Germaine Kvinta (League City, TX);his brother-in-law, William D. Kvinta and wife, Hattie (Houston, TX) and many nieces and nephews
Friends are invited to visitation with the family on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024 with a Vigil service at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 10:30 am at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road, Houston, TX 77056, with a reception to follow in the Parrish Life Center. Interment to follow.
Memorials may be made in John’s memory to St. Thomas High School, Houston, Texas or to the American Heart Association.
