Johnnie Johnson, age 79, of Cypress, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at peace in his home with his loving wife, Bonnie, by his side. Johnnie was born on April 11, 1943, to H.L. Johnson and Marie Johnson. He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, his brother L.B. Johnson, his brother Charles Johnson.
Johnnie graduated from Mexia High School. Johnnie enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1961 and served 4 years active and 2 years inactive. He was stationed at Indian Springs AFB in Nevada and England AFB in Louisiana. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad 27 years until he retired. He met the love of his life, Bonita Mohler, Bonnie, in April of 1964, they married in September 1964. They were together for 58 years. When he first saw Bonnie walking home from the schoolbus he said "Oh my goodness she's so pretty, I'm going to marry that girl." Johnnie was a Mason, Shriner, and a Scottish Rite. Johnnie loved cruising and met many wonderful people on his and Bonnie's cruising adventures. He was a talker and loved sharing stories with everyone. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Johnnie is survived by his wife Bonnie, his son Jason, as well as his grandchildren Garrett and Paige, including his many nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
A memorial service for Johnnie will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek, 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77095.
