John was born in Lake Jackson, TX on April 21, 1986 to parents Tony and Pamela Westbrook. He was raised in Angleton, TX and lived in Austin and Sugar Land before completing high school. He graduated from Westwood College and received degrees in computer-aided design and architectural drafting. He worked as a Process Pipe Designer for several engineering firms, including URS and Worley Parsons.
John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time at the family’s ranch in the Hill Country. Whether he was hunting, exploring the property or just sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee enjoying the peace and quiet, he loved the calm and solitude of being in the country. It was a nice retreat from the fast-paced life he led in Houston.
John had a passion for philosophy and critical thinking. He had an ever-curious mind and a thirst for learning new things and was happiest when questioning the status quo. Whether it was politics, philosophy, religion or the time of day, John never left any good answer unquestioned.
He was a loyal son, brother and friend who will be sorely missed by all those who loved him.
John is survived by his parents, Tony and Pamela Westbrook; his sister, Susan Lazarine; his brother-in-law, Daniel Lazarine; his beloved nephew, Elliott Lazarine, all of Houston, TX; his grandmother, Alene Guillot and her husband, GL Guillot of Angleton, TX; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends Sunday, February 16, 2013 beginning at 2:00 PM at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors.
