John “Jack” T. Pinkerton, 76, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Saturday, December 5, 2020. Due to Covid, Jack’s family were unable to hold a celebration of life at the time of his death, but will be holding a memorial service, please see details below.
He graduated from St. Thomas High School and went on to study at the University of St. Thomas, earning a Bachelor of Arts, class of 1966. After college, Jack dedicated his life to the education and coaching of others. He started his career at St. Thomas High School, where he himself once played football with his twin brother Harry. Jack then moved on to Mount Carmel High school where he continued to teach physical science and coach multiple sports teams. He finished his successful and winning career at St. Pius High School.
After retiring, Jack continued to support St. Pius and the community through various fund-raising efforts. Later in retirement, he ran a Glass Art business out of his garage and frequently traveled to visit his children and grandchildren. Jack’s passion for supporting the community extended to his service through his ongoing membership and leadership with the Knights of Columbus organization.
At the time of his passing, Jack was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Mary J. Pinkerton as well as his twin brother, Harry E. Pinkerton. At the time of his death, he was survived by his sister, Anne C. Pinkerton of Houston and brother William F. Pinkerton and wife Renee of Plano, TX. Jack is also survived by his children, Michael (Judy), Phillip (Amanda), Mark, Catherine, Courtney and Patrick and grandchildren Amanda, Kevin, Sam, Matthew, Amelia, Ashlyn, Emma and Audrey.
Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. The Rite of Committal Will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX 77060
