John Clayton Miller Sr., 79 of Frisco, TX, formerly of Houston, TX, went peacefully to be with his heavenly father on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 in Katy, TX with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren by his side.
John was the first born of 8 children on September 14, 1941 in Fond du Lac, WI to Oscar Clayton and Ione Elizabeth (Kersten) Miller of Chilton, WI. John was always a hard worker, at the young age of 14 he moved away from home to begin working on a farm to help provide for his parents. John graduated from Chilton H.S. in 1959 where his accomplishments included Class President, Student Council, Homecoming Court, President of FFA, and a 3-year letterman for football as tackle #74. He then attended the University of Wisconsin in River Falls for 2 years before enlisting in the United States Air Force to continue an education in electronics while proudly serving his country. In February 1965, John went to New Orleans with one of his Air Force buddies from Keesler Air Force Base. On that trip, aboard a steamboat dinner cruise, a fortuitous encounter led John to the love of his life, Sidonia Emilia Leduc Castro, who had just relocated from her native home of San Jose, Costa Rica and they fell in love with one another instantly. John accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mid-City Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA in the Spring of 1965. John and Sidonia were married at Mid-City Baptist Church on July 3rd that same year. While living in New Orleans John worked for a company who transferred him to Houston, TX, which back then was referred to as Alief, TX. This is where John and Sidonia established their home for the next 41 years and raised 3 children, Jacqueline, Joyce, and Johnny Jr. John worked for Texas Instruments fulfilling a 25-year career working as a large Computer Seismic Technician, Computer Salesman, and became an essential part of the TI Management team. He retired in 1993 at the young age of 52.
In the essence of his life, John was profound on teaching his kids the simplest of things to the most complex with a perfect balance of reality. There was never a project he couldn’t do himself. He loved spending time with his family, having dinner parties with friends, and most of all dancing with his bride. John enjoyed traveling around the world with Sidonia visiting places like Canada, India, China, Japan, Germany, England, France, Singapore, Nicaragua and Chile, just to name a few, but his favorite place to visit was always Costa Rica. There he enjoyed the beaches, rain forest, culture, food, and his wife’s extended family and friends. John also made sure to travel to Wisconsin almost every other summer with his wife and kids to visit his extended family. When John wasn’t working on his cars or repairing his rental houses, he was watching his beloved Green Bay Packers, the Houston Astros, and NASCAR races. After enjoying his retirement in Houston, John and Sidonia moved to Frisco, TX in 2007 where they continued to spend valuable time with their grandchildren attending many school and sporting events. John was a kind and caring man, a man of few words, but the few words always lasted a lifetime.
John is lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Sidonia Miller, and his three children (all JCM’s), Jacqueline Cidonia Miller of Frisco, TX, Joyce Caroline Miller of Katy, TX and John Clayton Miller, Jr. (Mary) of Katy, TX. He is missed by his six grandchildren, Cormac John Creaven, Caroline Jacqueline Creaven and Colton James Creaven of Katy, TX, Alexis Nicole Miller of San Marcos, TX, John Clayton Miller III and Blake Thomas Miller of Katy, TX.
He will always be the loving Big Brother of James and Betty Miller of Chilton, WI, Bob and Jan Miller of Sherwood, WI, Sue Miller of Altoona, WI, Kathy Thomson (Gene) of Gravis Mills, MO, Pat Miller of Chilton, WI, Steve Miller of Chilton, WI. John was also a caring Uncle that will be missed by his 10 Nieces.
John has left this earth to be with those who passed before him which include his parents and his loving brother, Tom Miller.
Blessed are the sweet memories we have of John Clayton Miller, Sr. and his legacy will continue to live on in our hearts.
