John Phillip McMinn

John Phillip McMinn went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. He was born on March 3, 1938 in Overton, Texas to parents John Everett and Ada McMinn. He graduated from Galena Park High School in 1957. He worked as a Structural Detailer at United Steel Structures for many years until retirement. He was a Deacon and a very active member of Calvary Baptist Church. He cherished his family vacations to the mountains and the beach. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He lived for his family. He absolutely loved his Northshore High School Mustangs Football team and hardly missed a Friday night game with his brothers. He also loved his Houston Texans and wore his cap and shirt everywhere. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty McMinn, his parents, his grandson, Chris Smith and his brothers Billy Lyn and Bobby Don McMinn. He is survived by his two daughters Melody and Niona McMinn; three grand children Sophia Gardiner, Brandon and Helen Ruth Hill; and four great grandchildren Merrick, Lilith, Juan and Zack; sister Jean Carol Hughes and brother Thomas Dean McMinn. His memory will forever live on in our hearts.

The family will receive friends for visitation Monday, July 20, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and a Funeral Service at 3:00 PM in the Family Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039 followed by a burial at Brookside Memorial Park at a later date.
