He received a Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Wisconsin, and taught at several schools in Memphis before moving to Houston. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Lee Clements McCall of Houston.
He received an award for the highest grade on the CPA exam in the year he took it, but did not receive his degree because he did not complete the required practice with a CPA. Instead, he chose to have a tax accounting practice from his home, from which he retired in 2008. His hobbies were computer games, reading murder mysteries (particularly British) and science fiction. He played the violin and viola in the Houston Civic Symphony for 29 years. He loved great wine and Italian food.
He is survived by his first cousins Bebe Moody Boone and her husband Jack, Denman Moody Jr. and his wife Marijo and Rhetta Moody McAlister, and the following nieces and nephews: Kathy Boone Feldt, Marshall Boone, Christy Moody Collier, Lindsay Moody Varela, Jim McAlister IV, Hydie McAlister, Larry Heard, Teddy Heard Orr, Susanna Heard Kane and Denman Heard.
The family gratefully acknowledges the friendship and part-time work of Carla Nelson on his behalf, and the beautiful relationship and untiring, faithful full-time service of Gbemisola Adewodu, who took care of Barbara Lee from 2005 until her death in 2013, and Todd from 2013 until his death.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 on Sunday, February 25th, 2018 at the Chapel at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Todd accepted Jesus Christ as a young man in Nashville, went through a long spell of agnosticism, and acknowledged the acceptance of Jesus Christ within the last hour of his life. The family invites you to read the parable of the laborers in the vineyard in the 20th chapter of Matthew.
