John Kenneth Halbert Sr.

John Kenneth Halbert Sr. went to be with our Lord on Saturday, May 13, 2023, passing from complications due to Parkinson’s Disease. Kenneth was born on August 26, 1939 in Jacksonville, Texas to Johnny James Halbert and Nettie (Thornton) Halbert.

Kenneth graduated from Gallatin High School where he enjoyed playing on the basketball team. Kenneth worked hard all his life providing for his family. He married his lovely wife, Frances Ann Carbone on January 22, 1961 and raised four boys: Michael, Anthony, John Kenneth Jr, and Jody Halbert.

Kenneth began his career at Prudential and retired after a busy career from Big Three Industries where he worked in the blossoming computer field. Post-retirement, Kenneth worked for Enterprise Car Rental. Kenneth served as a member-at-large at St Theresa’s Catholic Church where the family attended regularly.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Frances Ann, along with his sons and their wives, Michael (Brenda), Anthony (Deanna), Jody (Judy) and Kenneth Jr.; grandchildren, Gina (Jonathan) Schomber, Stephanie (Luke) Geveshausen, Christina (Geoff) Plumb, Katherine Halbert, Ashley (Zachary) Henry, Nicholas Halbert; great-grandchildren, Madalyn Schomber, Brandon Schomber, and Preston Plumb.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny James Halbert, Nettie (Thornton) Halbert, and his sister Marcia (Halbert) Brunson.

A visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM in The Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024. A mass of christian burial will occur Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell Street, Houston, Texas 77007 and the rite of committal following the funeral mass at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023.
