John Henry Bailey, 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, son, and friend, passed away on December 26th 2024 at Houston Methodist Hospital.
John was born on December 20, 1948 in Houston, Texas to Lorraine Bailey. He graduated from Kashmere Gardens High School Class of 1967/1968. John spent over 40 years of his life as a dedicated Hi-Lo/O’Reilly Auto Store Manager, where he was known for his kindness and work ethic as a leader. He cherished his family and had a true love for bowling, all of which brought him much joy. John enriched the lives of those around him. He would inspire, support, and uplift anyone who needed it with just a few words of wisdom.
John was a deeply devoted husband to his wife, Carolyn of 55 years, whom was also his high school sweetheart. Where ever you saw John, Carolyn would be right by his side. He was a caring and supportive father to Kevin (Satonya), Adrian (Linda), and John Eric (Keshia). He was also an adoring grandfather to Dezmaryah, Treyvon, Dorian, Prentice, Kaedynn, and Grace Marie. He was great grandfather to Tre'Lynn, Jordynn, and Justynn. He is survived by his brother, Michael Wayne Hill and nephews, Roland Hill and Brandon Ross, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by mother, Lorraine; sister, Earlene; brother, Bobby Ray and his infant grandsons, John Eric, II (Jay), Jacob Alexander, and Preston Eric. His family and friends will remember him for his kind heart, generosity, wisdom, and supportiveness.
John loved his family very much and always found a way to show them through his actions. He will be greatly missed by his entire family as well as many friends and loved ones. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A visitation for John will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025 beginning at 9:00 AM at North Wayside Church of Christ, 7015 N. Wayside Dr, Houston, TX 77028. A funeral service is scheduled to follow and begin promptly at 10:00 AM in the sanctuary at North Wayside Church of Christ. Burial will take place at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
