Joel Daniel Jr. was born into this world on February 5th 1942 in Valparaiso, Indiana, but he moved to Texas as soon as he could at the age of two. He was the youngest of eight children born to his parents Joe and Bernice. Joe was chief of police of Jacinto City and Jay followed in his footsteps by going into law enforcement. He joined the Houston Police Department and graduated class #28 in September 1963. He was proud of being a police officer and was very loyal to his fellow officers. One day while in the cafeteria at work, he saw a beautiful lady that worked in the records division named Judith Lynn Gregson. Three weeks later, he proposed and they were married May 22nd 1965. They had their first daughter, Cynthia Kay Daniel on March 11th 1968 and on December 3rd 1978, their second daughter was born and named Shanna Lynn Daniel. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, his daughters, Cyndi and Shanna and his grandchildren Taylor Ryan Daniel and Megan Renee Daniel, who he was very proud of. He is also survived by his two sisters, Nadine Patterson, Joyce Stewart, brother-in-law Ben Lingo and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ed Daniel, Chuck Daniel, James Daniel, Betty Fancher, Pat Lingo and brother-in-law James Patterson. Jay loved life, making people laugh and was quite the character. He never met a stranger and would do anything for anybody. His passing has left a huge hole in all of our hearts and we look forward to being reunited with him once again in Heaven.
