Joanne was born in San Antonio, TX. The only child of Lt. Colonel Otto and Carrie Trunk spending her childhood growing up in many places eventually settling back in to San Antonio. She attended Southern Methodist University (SMU) where she was an active member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority earning a BS degree in Psychology. Upon her return to San Antonio, she met Sidney Cushman Page who she married on June 14, 1954. After settling into Houston, they had two children, Karen Jo and Robert Cushman. Being the active person that she was, “Jo” as she became known, took part in her children’s lives as well as being very active in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
Some of the many activities she enjoyed were Girl Scout Leader, organized swimming stroke and turn judge, numerous car pools and attending both her kid’s sporting events. Of all the activities she was involved in possibly her favorite was judging the Cedar Oaks Lane annual 4th of July parade where she ensured every young participant was acknowledged for the various floats and costumes, they were so proud to display.
Upon the death of her husband Sidney in 1976, Jo started a new journey in life and took on a full-time position with Gerald Hines Interests where she worked for the next 25 years. She was involved in many outside organizations in order to promote Hines Interests, including her favorite the Building Owners and Manager’s Association (BOMA).
The number of professional and personal relationships she built over the years are too numerous to list here but she loved what she did and adored the people who were a part of it. Of everything mentioned above Jo’s true love was her kid’s and her grandchild, Tyler. She loved Tyler very much and took as many opportunities as she could to be involved in his life despite living in different cities.
She is survived by daughter Karen Clemmensen and son-in-law Jack Clemmensen of Houston, TX. Son Robert Page, daughter-in-law Barrie Tyler Page, and grandson Tyler Cushman Page of Arlington, TX. Niece Susan Hitchcock of San Diego, CA.
