Jessie Mae was the second child out of six born to Rosetta Taplin on November 5, 1938. She attended school at Round Top Carmine where she was an avid athlete winning many races and being all district and an equally academic student as well. She confessed Christ at an early age. Attended St Matthews Missionary Baptist Church in Carmine until later she joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in New Ulm, Texas working along side her sister and daughters serving The Lord. She served as an Usher making Head Usher (St Matthews Church in Old Washington, Texas) and made speech presentations at many Church events. Her voice for speech presentations and singing was her thumb print. Jessie was employed by The Brenham State School in 1978 to 1999 for 21 years of service. 1999 she transferred to MHMR Brazos Valley retiring in 2008. Her awards and recognitions were many but the GREATEST was to help the consumers. Jessie Mae was known in the community and in many surrounding cities; but her legendary thumb print was left in Brenham, Texas where she tirelessly and effortlessly volunteered at Schools, school events, community events; she was always involved supporting children and grand children. Her next print was established in college by supporting her baby son (Brandell) attending the Baylor football games. She loved life and she loved people. Jessie Mae was mother to many. She was loved and cherished by many. She leaves to cherish her memories: Children, Ray Charles Jackson Sr. and wife and special daughter in-law Jeanette; Michael Jackson Sr. and wife Michelle; Gloria Washington and husband and special son-in-law Carlton; Shirley Jackson, Debra Jackson, and Brandell Jackson Sr. and wife DeShawn. Grand Children; Ray Jackson Jr., Raphael, Celeste, Michael Anthony Jr., Faith, Brandell Anthony, Crystal Crenshaw, Chellsea Washington, Bryceton, Jessica, and Brandell LaRon II. And a host of great children, sister like a daughter, Joyce Jones and husband Pastor Albert Jones Jr.; Brother James Harris and wife Everlena. Sisters Sophie Owens and husband Johnny; Terri Ricks and husband Cherry; Diane Wesley and husband Berry; Brother Sherman Knotts Jr. III; and Gregory Crayton and wife Sharon; Sister Birdie Lee Watson; brother Lonnie B. Taplin and wife Raelee. And host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
