Jerrell Arnold Breland, age 87, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2014. Born January 14, 1928 in Corsicana, Texas to Elmer and Frankie Breland, he was a beloved husband, father, and PaPa and will truly be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Verla Gusemano; brother, Kenneth Breland; and his daughter, Carolyn Carnline. He is survived by Patricia, his wife of 67 years, and 7 of his 8 children: Susan DeHaven; George Breland and wife Joni; Mark Breland and wife Rosie; Julia Michalak and husband Richard; John Breland and wife Leah; Hannah Snow and husband Robert; and Frank Breland and wife Nicole. He was PaPa to 25 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Jerrell was a member of Assumption Catholic Church for over 50 years and was an active member of both the St. Vincent De Paul Society and the Knights of Columbus. He started with Houston Lighting and Power Company as a helper, worked his way up to become a Cable Splicer, and, eventually, a Supervisor in the underground department until his retirement in 1987 after 41 years of dedicated service. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 4, 2015 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Assumption Catholic Church, 901 Rose Lane, Houston, Texas 77037. Rite of Committal will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Michael Breland, Shawn DeHaven, Clinton Carnline, Christopher Carnline, Cameron Breland, Eric Breland, Casey Michalak, and Ryan Perez. Donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Assumption Catholic Church.
