following a stroke. Jackson, a New Jersey native, was born in Passaic and grew up in Nutley.
He was known as “Jack” until he was transferred by DeLaval Turbine in 1970 and became a
Texan named Andre. In 1974 he married Kathy Bader of Bellville, Texas and, following a
two-year camping adventure, settled in Houston.
Andre graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1968. He was
a mechanical engineer working predominantly in the oil and gas industry until 2015 and
remained an active member of the American Petroleum Institute through 2022.
This Eagle Scout, Episcopal Vestryman, world traveler, most loving and loved, meticulous man
is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Dalton Jackson, father Jean Andre Jackson, Sr.,
and niece, Amanda Morgan of Nutley, New Jersey.
Andre is survived by his wife Kathy, daughters Andrea Smith and husband Barry Smith,
Catherine Rodriguez and husband David Rodriguez, grandchildren Gwendolyn and Jacob
Smith, Jack and Jameson Rodriguez (affectionately known to Andre as The Whiskey Brothers), siblings Mark Jackson and wife Jean, Maureen Jackson
Morgan, Craig Jackson, Gregory Jackson, Christopher Jackson and wife Elizabeth,
brother-in-law Ian Bader and wife Becky, and many loved nieces and nephews and their
children in New Jersey, Texas, and Florida.
The Funeral service for Andre will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Avenue Houston, TX on Tuesday, Mar 1, 2022at 10:00am, followed by a reception in Sanders Hall at the Cathedral. The burial will be at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville, TX at 2:00pm.
