Janice Marie Pace Phillips was born March 26, 1945 and passed away on May 28, 2023. Janice was the younger of two daughters born to William Frederick Pace and Sarah Beatrice Parrish Pace in Livingston, Texas.
A lifelong Texan, Janice graduated from Goodrich High School in 1963. At eight years old she met the boy next door, Marvin Phillips. They fell in love and married in Livingston on October 31, 1964 and shared the next 56 years together.
Janice enjoyed cooking and spending time with Marvin and their two daughters. The family enjoyed campouts in Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri, and later road trips to Florida, New Mexico, and Colorado. Her interest in genealogy led her to do research into her Pace family roots, and the resulting book was shared with family. Janice and Marvin loved to watch old western television shows and movies together. She also loved ‘Murder, She Wrote’ and cooking shows. When not watching television she liked doing Word Find puzzles and sitting on the front porch watching the birds that visited the feeder. Her daughter, Kerry, was her constant companion and caregiver.
Janice is survived by her daughters, Katrina and husband Eric Benson, and Kerry Phillips. and by her grandchildren, Philip and his wife, Stephanie Benson, and Elizabeth Benson. She is also survived by her sister, Billie Ann Pace McDaniel and her brother-in-law, Sidney Phillips, as well as by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Marvin, parents Willie and Sarah Pace, her in-laws John and Ruby Sprayberry Phillips, brother-in-law Dickie McDaniel, brother-in-law Marshall and wife Zelene Phillips, sister-in-law Lorene and husband Joe Meza, sister-in-law Marie and husband Herman Kinard, brother-in-law Verdis and wife Deane Phillips, sister-in-law Mildred and husband Doyle Wood, sister-in-law Anne Phillips, and sister-in-law Mary Jo and husband Billy Davis.
