Her passing to Glory was a sacred and peaceful experience as the songs & prayers of her family accompanied her to her Father’s open arms.
Jan was born in Odessa, Texas on May 24, 1943. She grew up in Ft. Worth as the only daughter and second of three children raised by Russell and Harriett Farmer. Jan was extremely bright and excelled in academics. She could not be found without a book or to clasp in her hands. Throughout her life, she devoured novels and found delight in the new worlds awaiting her between the pages.
Jan attended college at the University of Arkansas, Texas Christian University, and the University of Texas at Arlington. Before she could graduate, she met and fell in love with Charles Dean. Charles would proudly marry his “Jannie”, and would love her well for 54 years. Although Jan never received a college degree, she became a wife & mother of three girls: Debbie, Dianna, & Jenny.
Jan was beautiful and appreciated beauty in life. She was tall, slim & statuesque. She wore clothes well, and enjoyed creating fashionable outfits for herself and her daughters. Back-to-school shopping with mom was an annual highlight.
Jan came to faith as an adult and dove into church with both feet. Along with Charles, she signed up to help Sunday school and helped with potluck suppers. Jan was soon baptized at church in Arlington, and provided a testimony that touched many hearts and minds. She spent her daughter’s formative years teaching them about their Savior.
In the 1990’s, Jan joined her husband in the running of Dean’s Insurance Agency in Houston. Her exceptional administrative & organizational skills took the agency to new levels of success. Jan and Charles were able to embark upon a number of awards trips Farmers Insurance hosted for their largest producers.
Jan lived most of her life in Houston moving to San Antonio in August 2016. She is survived by her husband, Charles, her brother, David Farmer, and her three daughters, Debbie Ledoux, Dianna Lorenz, & Jenny Gomez along with their spouses Peter Ledoux, Mike Lorenz and Mike Gomez. Jan left a legacy of faith of her girls that has been handed down to her grandchildren: Nathaniel Disser, Samuel Ledoux, Hannah Ledoux, Elizabeth Ledoux, Grace Lorenz, Quade Gomez, Faith Lorenz, Andres Gomez, Daxton Gomez and Hope Lorenz.
