He was born in Galveston, TX on July 2nd, 1939. He married Jennie Prosper in November 1981.
He retired from the Army after serving 25 years where he held various MOS duties including Officer’s Club Manager and Recruiter. He is a Vietnam War Vet having served two tours in Vietnam.
He had several hobbies including collecting model cars, cooking, watching the Houston Astros, and spending time with Family. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved telling funny stories and jokes and laughing and having a good time.
He is preceded in death by his Mother Ruth, Father William; Brothers John (his twin), Bill (William Jr) and Perry; His Sons Craig Phillip Prosper and Keith Allan Prosper and his Great-grandson Bentley.
He is survived by: His wife Jennie and Children: James Prosper Jr.; Dean Allan Prosper and wife Cindy, Charlotte Smith and husband Preston, Debra Franklin, and Cindy Esthay and husband Frank; Brothers: Jerry and Joel Prosper; Grandchildren: Shelby, Kyle, Amy, Brad, Jennifer, Lela and Keith, Shaymere. Great Grandchildren: Christopher, Alexis, Emily, April, Seth, Rachel, Gabe, Lilly, Brantley, Sincere, Kayden and Lillian as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for James will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 1:45 PM to 2:15 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
