James Eugene McNamara, “Mr. Mac”, 83, passed peacefully into eternal slumber on February 18, 2016. Born on January 21, 1933 in St. Louis, MO, Mr. Mac was raised in the Houston area and graduated Milby High School in 1952. He served four years in the US Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant, working as an aircraft maintenance technician on various types of jet engines. Mr. Mac married his high school sweetheart, Ellen Jeanette Talbot, on December 19, 1953. Together they raised three children: Cheryl Berry (Scott), Denise Charpentier (Gary) and James Eugene McNamara Jr. He and Ellen have always been extremely proud of their only grandchild, Micah Jordan McNamara.
Mr. Mac retired from Shell Oil Refinery in Deer Park in 1992 after 31 years of service. He recently celebrated his 50th anniversary as a member of the Deer Park Masonic Lodge #1362. After retiring, Mr. Mac spent most of his free time at their property in Milano, TX, creating another circle of friends and raising pet cattle. Mr. Mac was loved by many and will be remembered for his love of life, willingness to help others and his witty sense of humor. He never met a stranger, and if you weren’t already his friend, he could quickly make you one.
Services will be held at Forest Park Lawndale on Monday, February 22, at 1pm. Gravesite services will follow. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in his honor. The family would like to thank his niece, Linda Perry Richter, and his many close friends and loved ones for the outpouring of love and support received.
