It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Robert (Jim) Hart of Katy, Texas into the loving embrace of God on April 3, 2025. Jim was born in Lincoln, Arkansas on August 13, 1943, to Loran and Doris (Swagerty) Hart. He was the beloved husband of Holly (Wark) Hart and devoted father to Glenn Anthony Hart, of Fulshear, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Holly; his son, Glenn Anthony Hart and wife Laura, of Fulshear, Texas; grandsons, Zachary James Hart and wife Ruth, of Broomfield, Colorado, and Aaron Edward Hart and wife Anica, of Houston, Texas; and sister, Patricia Ann Miller and husband Rich, of Folsom, California. He is also survived by two nephews, Gregory Rezak and wife Loretta, of Placerville, California, and Douglas Rezak, of Mantica, California; brother-in-law, Stephen Wark and wife Lollie; nieces, Leah Pennywark and husband Michael, and Sarah Guibert and husband Dan; great-nephew, Beckett Guibert, all of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and niece, Marchelle Ray Carris, along with great-nephew, Michael J. Carris, Jr., and great-niece, Olivia Mae Carris, all of Portland, Oregon. James lived a life full of love for his family. His family was his greatest joy. He attended every basketball and baseball game, band concert and school event of his son and grandsons. He loved being “Pop” to his grandsons and the time they spent together. He cherished time with his family.
James graduated from Westville High School, in Westville, Oklahoma and attended University of California, San Francisco and the University of Houston. He was self-employed for 51 years in the steel industry where he was respected for his hard work and integrity. Outside of his professional life, James was passionate about his family first as well as tennis and writing. Jim and Holly enjoyed playing tennis and the many close friendships they made during those years. After retiring he wrote three novels and after his vision began to decline, he started an Instagram account of original haiku and micro-poetry. (@JamesHart537).
He was highly active in the Thornwood Elementary PTA, and served as co-president, coached Little League, and served in the West I-10 Volunteer Fire Department as a lieutenant. Service was his gift, and he was always ready to help.
The family would like to thank Blue Star Hospice, Encore Caregivers, and Larry’s Lakehouse for their loving care, especially Penny, Yadira, Melvia, Nneoma, and Tracey.
The family will welcome friends at the funeral service which will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 2:00pm at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, in the Texas Liberty Chapel. (See In Memory Of Section for attached map.)
Jim will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of his loved ones.
We grew old together.
I can still see that young girl.
I would do it again
